Smart Call recently foaled a filly by Kingman at the National Stud in Newmarket, England.
The South African champion represented owners Mauritzfontein Stud, who also bred her.
Smart Call won 6 of her 26 starts, including 3 Grade 1 races in South Africa. The mare was subsequently exported to Europe after winning the 2016 J & B Met.
The daughter of Ideal World left the stable of Joburg based trainer, Alec Laird for the yard
of Sir Michael Stoute in the UK. Smart Call had clinched a spot in the Breeders' Cup Filly &
Mare Turf with a win in the Grade 1 Maine Chance Farms Paddock Stakes, but she couldn't
participate due to lameness issues training up to the race.
The mare made a full recovery several months later and won the Group 3 Hoppings Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket in the penultimate start of her career. She was covered by multiple
Group 1 winner, Kingman shortly after retiring and gave birth to a bay filly this season.
The foals pedigree is nothing short of outstanding.
Smart Call's dam is the Horse Chestnut mare, Good Judgement. Good Judgement is a half
sister to Durban July Handicap winner Grey's Inn. Kingman, a son of Invincible Spirit won
4 Group 1 races at a mile and he has made an exceptional start to his career at stud with
28 stakes winners from his first two crops to race.
